FAQs
-
What is life coaching, and how is it different from therapy or counseling?
Life coaching focuses on where you are now and where you want to go next. Unlike therapy, which often explores past wounds or diagnoses, coaching is action-oriented and forward-focused. A life coach helps you gain clarity, identify harmful thought patterns, set goals, remove mental blocks, and build momentum toward the life you truly want.
-
What kinds of goals can coaching help me achieve?
Coaching can help with personal, relational, and professional growth. Common goals include improving confidence, reducing stress, creating work–life balance, navigating transitions, strengthening relationships, or finding more purpose and joy. Whatever your goals, coaching provides structure, accountability, and support to help you get there faster.
-
Do I need to have a specific problem to work with a coach?
Not at all. Some clients come to coaching with a clear challenge they want to overcome. Others simply feel stuck, unfulfilled, or ready for “something more” but aren’t sure what that looks like yet. Coaching helps uncover that direction and build a plan to pursue it.
-
Is coaching confidential?
Absolutely. Everything you share is kept completely confidential. Emily provides a safe, judgment-free space where you can speak openly and honestly about anything you’re facing.
-
How long does it usually take to see results?
Many clients notice meaningful shifts within the first few sessions—greater awareness, motivation, and emotional clarity. Sustainable change typically takes several months, depending on your goals and how consistently you apply what you’re learning. Coaching is an investment in growth, and like most transformations, the results build over time. My most favorite feedback is this, “I’ve been meeting with a therapist for years. I made more progress in a few sessions with you than I did working with a therapist for all that time.” I have had heard that comment from my clients MANY times.
-
What can I expect during my first session?
Your first session is about getting to know you—your story, your goals, and what’s most important right now. Together, you’ll identify the key areas you want to focus on and create an initial plan. Most people leave the first session feeling lighter, clearer, and more hopeful.
-
Do you offer free consultations?
YES! I will gladly do a free 30-minute consultation to make sure we are a good fit.
-
How often do we meet, and how long are sessions?
Sessions are typically 50–60 minutes and held weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your needs. Emily offers flexibility to adjust the schedule as you make progress or as life demands shift.
-
Do you offer virtual sessions or in-person meetings?
Yes! Emily offers both. Most clients meet virtually via secure video call, but local clients may have the option for in-person sessions depending on availability.
-
Can I book just one session to see if it’s a good fit?
Absolutely. Many clients start with a single “clarity session” to experience coaching firsthand. If it feels like a great fit, you can choose to continue with a package or ongoing program.
-
How much does coaching cost, and are payment plans available?
Individual sessions are $125/hour. 6-week package deals are $600.
-
Do you offer packages or ongoing programs?
Yes. Most clients work with Emily in 6-week programs, which include regular sessions, goal tracking, and between-session support. Custom programs are also available for ongoing coaching or specific outcomes.
-
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Sessions can be rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Missed or late cancellations will be counted as a regular session to respect both your time and Emily’s schedule. You will be charged for that session at the regular rate.
-
Is coaching covered by insurance or health spending accounts?
Life coaching is not typically covered by insurance, but some clients use wellness or personal development funds through their employer. Check with your benefits provider for details.
-
What kind of results have your clients experienced?
Clients often report feeling more confident, focused, and fulfilled. Many describe breakthroughs in their mindset, stronger relationships, improved work–life balance, and a renewed sense of direction. Coaching results vary—but they always reflect the effort and openness you bring to the process.
-
What happens if I don’t reach my goals?
Coaching is a partnership—your success depends on both commitment and collaboration. If you hit obstacles, Emily helps you reframe, reset, and refocus so progress continues. The process itself often leads to deeper growth than the original goal.
-
Do you give homework or exercises between sessions?
Yes, often. Coaching isn’t just about talking—it’s about taking action. You might be given reflection prompts, simple habits, or mindset tools to practice between sessions. These small steps create powerful long-term change.
-
What’s the best way to get started?
You can start by booking a free consultation call. This is a 20–30 minute conversation to explore your goals, ask questions, and see if coaching together feels like the right fit.
-
Do you work with men, women, couples, or teens?
Emily works with men, women, and teens.
-
How do I prepare for my first session?
Bring an open mind, a few notes about what’s been on your heart or mind lately, and a willingness to be honest with yourself. That’s it. You don’t have to have it all figured out—just come ready to start the journey.
